AutoVAZ is going to reduce or even halt production of Chevi-Niva which I find horrendous and resume production of Lada Nivas, with improved headlights, engine, transfer case and gear box, interior, optional AC and power stuff. Dreams do come true.
My life is making sense again. I admit that I am a Niva nut. That is Lada Niva 21213. In my rational defence I can say that this car is ideal for me in Tbilisi. I would not buy such a car if I still were in the US or Moscow. But here it's different. Terrible roads, waters, no roads at all, ice, parking, cheap parts, and most importantly, my true love, the real off-road package (permanent 4x4, short base, high clearance, central differential lock and demultiplicator) in fun little macho SUV makes it all worth.
We are going to our country house next week and I will have to do some serious off-roading if it keeps raining like this. Oh, I did not mention, it was raining hard for two days and there are few places in the streets where water level was so high that sedans could not get through creating giant traffic jams. That's what Nivas are for! Did I mention that I am an owner? Ok I am going to stop now.
I do need a snorkel, it is a kind of an air tube that provides an air flow from (or to?) the engine and is placed high enough to prevent ground water and mud getting into the engine. Kind of a Niva-diving tool.
